Frequently asked questions
Where is La Red located ?
La Red is an intercultural meeting place located in downtown Fribourg (Planche-Inférieure 18). We rent the facilities of the house “La Vannerie”, which offer sufficient space for a variety of activities. The proximity of the Sarine river also makes it perfect for outdoor activities.
I'd like to take part in an activity. How much does it cost ? Do I have to sign up ?
All our activities at La Red are free of charge. For weekly classes, there’s no need to register or give advance notice. For some workshops, we do ask you to sign up, so that we can plan enough material for the event in question.
I'd like to host an activity. What are the conditions ?
We’re always open to new suggestions. We simply want the activities to fit in with La Red’s basic principles, i.e. to be free, open to all, and not politically nor religiously oriented.
What are the language courses ?
La Red hosts a variety of language and discussion courses for beginners and advanced learners from Monday to Friday. Teachers are volunteers and courses are free of charge. Anyone interested in taking part can visit any of the courses and speak to the people in charge. Interested in supporting our volunteer teachers? Get in touch with us !
What are the weekly meals all about ?
Every saturday evening, everyone is invited to come and share a meal at La Red. A team of enthusiastic cooks get together and prepare a surprise menu based on fresh produce from various suppliers. Meals are vegetarian, with an accent on regional and seasonal produce. The meal starts at around 7pm.
As the cooks change every week, we’re always looking for motivated people to lend a hand with preparation. Don’t hesitate to contact us !
What is CultuRed ?
Among other things, we organize cultural events to make culture more accessible to everyone. We organize concerts, film evenings and visits to cultural sites and events. If you’d like to suggest activities like the one above, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
What is the tandem project ?
The tandem project between Fribourg residents (F/D) and recently arrived persons enables an exchange of views on culture, language and life in Switzerland, as well as a facilitation of integration in Fribourg. The aim is to develop a relationship of trust through various activities such as drinking coffee, cooking, discovering the city and its surroundings, or spending an evening together at La Red! Each tandem is introduced at La Red, but then organizes itself as it sees fit. To make the project work, it’s best to meet 2-3 times a month for a few months. If you’re interested, don’t hesitate to contact us !
I'd like to donate my clothes to your free-shop. What are the conditions ?
In our free-shop, we have clothes for men, women and children. Everything is free and people can help themselves and drop off donations when La Red is open. If you have clothes you’d like to donate, we’re happy to collect them and make them available. Send us a PM on our Facebook page “Association La Red” or an e-mail. Clothes must be in good condition and clean (as you would like to find them yourself)! We don’t take undergarments.
